President
MBC & Associates, INC, Alexandria, LA-moved company to Nashville, TN, 1994
MBC is a Broadcast Production Company that produces videos for hospitals in cities throughout the US. The flagship product “Healthbreak,” consists of weekly 2-minute television, “info-mercials,” where local doctors, who practice at the sponsor hospitals, are interviewed about their specialties. These video vignettes are embedded in the evening news on the local TV station of the hospital’s choice.
I sold MBC in 2003 and it is still a strong growing company.
1985-1988
VP Marketing
Rapides Medical Center (RRMC), Alexandria, Louisiana
I started as PR Director and was promoted to VP after one-year. This medical center employs about 4000 people and had six VP’s. As VP Marketing and Communications I was responsible for all marketing and marketing research, public relations, advertising, event-planning and hosting and media relations for the medical center. In addition I was responsible for recruiting physicians and building relationships with doctors in the community.
It was here that I developed HealthBreak, which increased our market share from 16% to 60% in one-year, because it showed the community that there were excellent physicians in Central Louisiana. I left RRMC to start my own company, selling localized versions of HealthBreak to other hospitals in Louisiana and Mississippi. Our client list grew to include hospital clients in Arkansas, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Nevada, Illinois, California, New Mexico and Colorado. I sold the company when I was offered a sum I could not turn down.
1983-1985
Sales Associate, On-air Personality
KLAX-TV 31, an ABC affiliate, Alexandria, LA
I started as an account executive then started doing on-air work in commercials. My on-air work was appreciated by management who gave me a morning talk show position, then a week-end anchor spot. I left the TV station when RRRMC’s president called to offer me a lucrative position at the medical center.
